Changes to the Dangerous Goods Regulations Effective January 2007

We would like to call your attention to changes in the Dangerous Goods Regulations in the IATA 2007, 48th Edition and 2007 IMDG Code. Briefly, listed below are some of the changes that are going into effect on January 1, 2007. The DG Regulations must always be consulted when preparing a shipment for transport.
 | IATA 2007, 48th Edition - Some changes listed on pages xxi – xxiii are:
- UN 3373 is now "Biological substances, category B". Diagnostic and Clinical Specimens is not allowed.
- New design hazard label for Div. 5.2 – red top & yellow bottom. The old label can be used till 2010.
- The new format of the Shipper’s DG Declaration must be used.
- The sequence of the basic description of DG must start with the UN number first. The alternate format is not allowed.
- Packaging type must show description of package, i.e. "Fibreboard box", not just "4G".

 | 2007 IMDG Code - Some changes are:
- The basic description of the material must begin with the UN number first. The alternate format is no longer acceptable.
- Flash point on flammable liquids is reduced from 61 to 60° C c.c.
- Fumigated units, UN 3359, can no longer have their labels removed after ventilation.
- Check out the Segregation Section for changes.
- There is a new Div. 5.2 red and yellow hazard label not required until 2010.
