![]() Press Releases | CBP Beginning Implementation of Mandatory e-Manifest: Issue 534, November 2, 2006 A notice has been published in the Federal Register, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a press release, announcing the implementation ACE e-Manifest: Truck for Trade Act of 2002 (advance electronic cargo manifest), as follows: Implementation for Washington, Arizona, Part of North Dakota Starting January 27, 2007, truck carriers entering the U.S. through all ports of entry in the states of Washington and Arizona and through the ports of Pembina, Neche, Walhalla, Maida, Hannah, Sarles and Hansboro in North Dakota will be required to file advance electronic manifests through the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). Implementation for Other Land Border Ports CBP also states that it will provide 90 days advanced notice through publication in the Federal Register prior to requiring the use of ACE at the remaining ports. The implementation schedule for the remaining five groups of ports will be announced in the following order:
Options for Transmitting e-Manifest: Truck According to CBP, truck carriers have the following options to transmit e-Manifests for the truck environment: Self file through the web-based ACE Portal or via a CBP approved electronic data interchange (EDI), or Use a third party service provider CBP adds that to begin filing e-Manifests for the truck environment, truck carriers are encouraged to establish an ACE carrier account or obtain certification to file via EDI, or contact a customs broker, service provider, or other authorized filer to discuss how to submit e-Manifests.
