U.S. Implementation of New Wood Packaging Material (WPM) Regulations begins September 16, 2005 Issue 481, July 28, 2005 On September 16, 2005, the U.S. Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (AHPIS) will bring into effect their new regulations involving the importation of many types of wood packaging material such as pallets, crates, boxes, and dunnage. Wood packaging material used in international trade will be required to be treated either by heat treatment or fumigation by use of methyl bromide. Such packaging material will be required to be marked as having undergone such treatment.
