Indian Government Imposes Service Tax

Issue 477, July 11, 2005

The Indian Government recently issued a notification that a service tax of 10.2% will be charged to all Airlines on airfreight and all charges due carrier on shipments from India. Please be informed that with immediate effect this service tax will be passed on to the consignee in case of freight collect.

We regret any inconvenience the short notice may cause to our customers, however the circumstances are beyond our control and DHL Danzas Air & Ocean has no option but to pass this charge along to our customers. The airlines have taken a non negotiable stance and will not accept freight at this time, unless this charge is incorporated as a service tax in the shipment waybill.

If you require additional information or clarification, please contact your local DHL Danzas Air & Ocean representative.

Sincerely,

Brian Lindholm
