Post-Blackout System Status Report

Issue 413, August 15, 2003
Dear Valued Customers:

As of 08:30 AM EDT August 18, all stations affected by last week's power blackout in the U.S. and Canada were operating at full strength. All airfreight backlogs were cleared over the weekend, all gateway operations are operating as scheduled, and all airlines are accepting and releasing freight as scheduled.

Toronto is up and running with full network connections, and the rest of the Canadian network has full access to all electronic capabilities for airfreight, ocean freight and import services. Due to concerns over "rolling blackouts," companies operating in Canada are being asked to conserve as much as 50% of their normal electricity usage.

As airlines and Canadian Customs were closed on Friday, we are experiencing slight delays today. However, the weekend shifts in Toronto worked to significantly reduce the backlog.

At this time, our Detroit operations are running about one-half day behind on its processing of inbound and import traffic. Detroit is also experiencing a one-day delay in clearing up all export backlogs; all import and export backlogs should be cleared up by Tuesday.

Our Cleveland operations are operating fully and all backlogs should be cleared out by this evening.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging period. Please contact your nearest DHL Danzas Air & Ocean representative with any questions or comments.
