Conflict in the Middle East - Air Update 3/20/03

Issue 394, March 20, 2003
Now that war with Iraq has been made official, note that a change in airfreight routings, airline schedules and transit times may occur on short notice. As such, we have just learned today that the Kuwait Airport has been closed. To accommodate this (as well as any other airport closures or airline cancellations), Danzas AEI Intercontinental has already established a fully operational contingency hub in Dubai (DXB), which can provide exclusive trucking services as necessary.

Additionally, if the Middle East situation continues to deteriorate, thereby further affecting the transit of airfreight to the region, we are prepared to engage our other contingency hub in Europe. We will let you know if and when this course of action is necessary.

As has been said before, Temporary Rate Adjustments will be applied to accommodate the cost of diverting freight. This includes today's closure of the Kuwait Airport and the diversion of freight to Dubai. Your Danzas AEI Intercontinental Representative will keep you informed of the rate adjustments that will apply.

Please note that due to the complex nature of the subject matter, DHL Danzas Air & Ocean cannot be responsible for actions taken by the reader in reliance on the information contained herein without prior consultation with DHL Danzas Air & Ocean.
