West Coast Lockout by PMA

Issue 366, September 30, 2002
The West Coast labor situation has now been elevated to a complete work stoppage due to a lockout by the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA). It is anticipated that if federal mediators cannot get both parties to effectively negotiate and bring operations back to normal levels, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) will be ordered back to work within a short time frame.

Regardless of the current issues, the West Coast gateway is already very congested from the significant volumes of imports this year. If you have urgent cargo to move from Asia to North America, Danzas AEI Intercontinental has established regular airline charters that can provide you emergency alternatives to ensure that your priority merchandise is transported during this critical season.

It would be advisable to contact your local Danzas AEI Intercontinental representative to personally discuss your needs. We will do our utmost to keep you informed of any changes during this difficult time.

Please note that due to the complex nature of the subject matter, DHL Danzas Air & Ocean cannot be responsible for actions taken by the reader in reliance on the information contained herein without prior consultation with DHL Danzas Air & Ocean.
