New Danzas AEI Intercontinental Rapidly Taking Shape

The announcement in November 1999 of Deutsche Post signing a merger agreement with Air Express International and the integration of all AEI activities into the Danzas Intercontinental Business Unit made big waves within the worldwide logistics industry. Now, the new Danzas AEI Intercontinental Business Unit is ready to communicate the new worldwide structure.

BASEL, (March 7, 2000) - With the announcements of the appointments for the important functions on group, regional, subregional and country/county group levels, Danzas AEI Intercontinental Business Unit has concluded one of the major and most important steps of the integration design phase. Now the second step of integration planning, followed by the field integration, will be taken up at full speed.

The new organization took effect on March 6, 2000. This means that all responsibilities from the group level to the country level are assigned to the responsible persons. The integration process is designed to achieve a seamless and orderly transition. The executive teams leading the integration process are committed to ensuring that customers receive the highest level of service during the transition period. Danzas AEI Intercontinental brings together excellent products and services with very strong IT support. The global freight forwarding and logistics organization is moving into the new millennium with the goal of becoming the world?s preeminent logistics provider. Danzas AEI offers shippers an unmatched range of global freight forwarding and logistics services from a single source, i.e. the ultimate one-stop shopping.

Business Unit Organization - The management team at the group level, headed by the existing Business Unit Head, Renato Chiavi, is comprised of managers of: five regions, products, marketing and sales and for the functional services of controlling, business processes and organization, and human resources. The new organization took effect on March 6, 2000.

New legal names for AEI companies - Because the entire integration process will take between 12 and 18 months, it has been decided to rename all AEI companies to Danzas AEI with immediate effect. The intention is to highlight the change of ownership and, even more important, to maintain the combination of two very strong brands in the market. For the above reason, the company Air Express International Corp., Darien, the holding company of all AEI subsidiaries, has already changed its name to Danzas AEI Corp. The new chairman of its board is Peter Wagner, CEO of the Danzas Group. Guenter Rohrmann, former CEO of AEI is Vice Chairman. Renato Chiavi, Head of Intercontinental Business Unit is CEO.

Function of Guenter Rohrmann - Guenter Rohrmann, former CEO of AEI, has successfully led and built AEI. As Vice Chairman of Danzas AEI Corp., he will be responsible for a number of existing and future top accounts. He also will be involved at the forefront of integrating the Joint Venture and Agent businesses. Besides this, he heads the regional integration steering committee of the Americas and is one of the three members of the Executive Office responsible for the overall integration.
