Italian Trucker Strike

Issue 048, December 10, 2007

We have been informed about strike actions by the Italian Truck Carrier Association, effective December 10 until December 14, 2007.

The truckers have already blocked the access to the marine terminals, which makes import and export container haulage to and from the ports impossible.

Due to this circumstance, DHL Global Forwarding will not be able to guarantee the loading of export containers and dispatching of import containers for the time being.

Starting today there will be meetings between Italian Government and the Truck Carriers Association. We will inform you of any further developments.

In case these meetings do not produce a positive ending and the strike continues, queues and congestion will have to be taken into consideration. Consequently, the loading and discharging operations at the ports could last for a considerable time, creating potential delays to your supply chains.

Sincerely,

Guido Wedemeyer
