Wildfires disrupt rail service to and from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach

Issue 037, October 26, 2007

The much-publicized wildfires burning in many locations in southern California have disrupted train departures and arrivals at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Whilst service has now been resumed, it was temporarily suspended from Sunday through part of Monday at the request of the local authorities. As a result, we are being advised that delays of between 24 and 48 hours may be incurred by cargo traveling on the rail. We are working diligently with our carriers to minimize the impact to your business and will keep you informed of developments.

Kind regards,

Simon Munn
Sr. Director Ocean Procurement North America
