New TSA Requirements

Issue 008, March 9, 2007

As part of the federal government’s plan to strengthen aviation security, the Transportation Security Administration will implement new procedures affecting the transportation of U.S. domestic and export air freight shipments.

The new directive, which takes effect March 12, 2007, has two primary components:

All domestic and U.S. export air freight shipments transported on aircraft will be subject to random inspections. This may include, but not necessarily be limited to, the physical examination of the shipments’ contents.

All air freight shipper representatives will be required to present a government issued photo I.D. to a DHL Global Forwarding employee, agent or authorized representative at the time the freight is tendered to DHL Global Forwarding. We will be responsible for verifying and recording the shipper representative’s I.D. number at the time of tender, and for keeping that information on file for future reference.

Because the TSA will not ask for a copy of the photo I.D., our employees, agents or representatives will only have to verify the I.D. and to record the number with the shipment. If the shipper’s representative does not have a government issued photo I.D. available at the time of tender, the TSA will require that two forms of identification be presented and recorded at that time.  Please be assured that information provided will be handled in accordance with the DHL Global Forwarding Privacy Policy, which is posted at www.dhl-dgf.com

Shippers whose representatives fail to produce any identification may be subject to security-related surcharges as a result of additional costs incurred either by DHL Global Forwarding or the receiving airlines in processing those shipments.

Due to national security concerns, there is certain information about this initiative that, by law, we cannot divulge at this time. We will update you as events warrant and as information becomes available to disclose.

We at DHL Global Forwarding remain committed to providing you with safe and superior service.  Being fully compliant with all TSA directives will enable us to meet those goals.

Sincerely,

Brian Lindholm
Executive Vice President and Country Head - USA
