Danzas AEI Delivers United Way Campaign

Darien, CT (October 14, 2002) -- Danzas AEI Intercontinental, one of the world's leading providers of IT-supported logistics solutions, is announcing a new campaign this month. This time it is not about providing supply chain management services to one of the largest multi-national companies in North America or expanding its position in another part of the world, rather it is about its first United Way charitable giving campaign in Danzas AEI's 67-year history in the U.S. and Canada. The U.S. campaign will be managed from the Darien United Way office and reach approximately 4,000 of the company's U.S. employees.

The Danzas AEI campaign comes at a time when nationally charitable giving is down, yet according to a recent United Way phone and Internet survey Americans want to be more active in their communities. The same survey indicates that a demanding work schedule is to blame for a lack of community involvement. The Danzas AEI employee-giving initiative seems to walk-the-line between the two trends by addressing community needs through the United Way.

"Since September 11th, the importance of having community service agencies ready to respond to national and local crisises is obvious. The United Way is the best way to impact the most people through its network of local, volunteer-driven organizations that address health and human service needs in communities worldwide," said Anthony Shaw Vice President of Human Resource, Danzas AEI.

One hundred percent of the donations from the US Danzas AEI locations processed by the Darien United Way will be sent back to help the communities that they came from. For example, contributions from the approximately 300 Danzas employees in Darien will be invested in the Darien community, likewise contributions from the Seatac, Wash. office will be sent to the United Way of King County in Seattle.

"This means that pledges from all over the country will be coming through our office," said John Brannelly Darien United Way's Executive Director, "we are more accustomed to organizing local campaigns. Danzas AEI is a big boost for us because so many more people will be helped both locally and on a national level."

In the coming weeks, United Way representatives will work with the 86 Danzas AEI locations across the country. Danzas AEI employees will receive campaign brochures listing the agencies that their contributions would go to support. From the information provided Danzas AEI employees will be able to make an informed contribution to the United Way.

"When Danzas AEI initiated the campaign they started something here that will spread across the nation that is bigger than one employee, one city, or even one company. Danzas AEI decided to use their industry, their resources, to make our county even stronger. I am very proud to be a part of this," said Brannelly.

For over 50 years, the Darien United Way has identified unmet community needs and has allocated funds to organizations whose mission is to serve and strengthen the community. For further information, or to make a donation, please call the United Way at 655-8775.
