The Body Shop and Danzas North America Broaden Global Supply Chain Partnership
Alliance Expands to Include Trucking and Brokerage Services an NAFTA Trades
Darien, CT (January 28, 2002) -- The Body Shop Inc., one of the world's leading hair and skin care retailers, and Danzas North America today announced they have expanded their global logistics alliance to include surface transportation and import brokerage services throughout the NAFTA region.
Under the expanded agreement, Danzas North America was named to manage the trucking and border brokerage operations for The Body Shop's products made in Canada and cleared at the Northern border into the United States. It is also managing the transportation and import clearance of The Body Shop's Mexican-bound goods made in the U.S. and United Kingdom.
Last July, Danzas's Cargo Management Service Unit in North America was named to manage the flow of on-line purchase orders from The Body Shop's U.S. stores to its U.K. vendors, handle the physical consolidation of U.S.-bound cargo, and co-ordinate all vendor management issues relating to The Body Shop's supply chain management services.
"By broadening the geographic coverage of our partnership, we enhance the efficiencies of our global logistics network and gain the convenience of a single point-of-contact for all our NAFTA supply-chain needs," said Tom Moran, director of logistics, The Body Shop. "Supporting our distribution activities on two continents is a tall order, but Danzas North America has demonstrated it can deliver the end-to-end solutions to support our business."
For example, Danzas North America gives The Body Shop the flexibility to expand its global network of vendors without the cost and administrative challenges of managing its vendor base in-house, Moran said.
"Their expertise in this area provides us with greater sourcing options without the added expense and inefficiencies of managing a service that is not a core competency," Moran added.
"Savvy global enterprises like The Body Shop understand the benefits of working with one company skilled in managing a global supply chain," said Bob Hewitt, director, global business development, Danzas North America. "Today's agreement underscores The Body Shop's confidence in our ability to execute today, and to be well-positioned to build value for its future product and geographic expansion."
