Danzas AEI Intercontinental opens second brokerage office in British Columbia; enhances Canadian border brokerage network
NAFTA trade drives increased demand for one-stop logistics offerings.
Darien, CT (September 10, 2001) -- Danzas AEI Intercontinental, a Business Unit of the Danzas Group, said today it has opened a Canadian border brokerage facility in Surrey, British Columbia, approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Vancouver. The move expands Danzas AEI Intercontinental's Canadian brokerage network and enhances the value of the company's nationwide clearance system serving the NAFTA and trans-Continental trades.
Located on the Canadian side of the Pacific Highway Border Crossing, the facility is Danzas AEI Intercontinental's fourth border brokerage office in Canada. The facility supports brokerage activity for imports entering British Columbia and Alberta from key U.S. Pacific coast markets. It also supports the flow of trans-Pacific imports bound for western Canada but which enter North America at U.S. ports-of-entry and are then transported across the border.
The facility exclusively provides customs clearance and related brokerage services such as duty drawback, consulting and compliance management. It complements full-service import operations at Danzas AEI Intercontinental's facility in Vancouver.
"The Pacific Highway facility enhances our brokerage capabilities at the U.S.-Canada border, and strengthens our position as one of the leading integrated logistics companies in North America," said Donna Letterio, country manager, Canada, Danzas AEI Intercontinental.
"Our Canadian brokerage business has grown approximately 30% a year since 1995, an indication that our services have been well received by customers on both sides of the border," said Letterio. "Expanding our network and products on the Northern and Southern borders will be a top priority as the rapid growth of NAFTA trade drives increased demand for one-stop logistics offerings from experienced providers."
In addition to the four border offices in Canada, Danzas AEI Intercontinental operates 12 facilities on the U.S. border with Canada. On the Southern border with Mexico, there currently exists four border operations with expansion plans for later this year.
Alberto Mondani, district manager, Vancouver, Danzas AEI Intercontinental, added: "The new Pacific Highway office helps us facilitate the clearance and collection of Canadian imports, and gives our customers in western Canada an alternative location to Vancouver for their brokerage needs." It also enables us to manage brokerage for businesses even if we do not currently handle their transportation."
The launch of the new facility marks another milestone for Danzas AEI Intercontinental Canada. Canada was the first country to be integrated following the combination of Danzas Intercontinental and the former Air Express International (AEI).
