Philips names Danzas "2000 Airfreight Carrier of the Year"
Philips International B.V., the EUR 31.5 (USD 27.0) billion Dutch electronics conglomerate, has named Danzas its global "Airfreight Carrier of the Year" for 2000.
BASEL (Switzerland) (December 8, 2000) -- The prestigious award, the product of two surveys conducted during the year of logistics professionals at more than 25 Philips global business units, was given to Danzas AEI Intercontinental, the Intercontinental Business Unit of Danzas, for "excellent service and earnest efforts to create a productive business partnership," Philips said in its award letter.
This is the first time that Philips has recognized an airfreight provider for global service excellence.
"Danzas AEI Intercontinental won the award because of its strong focus on account management and its pro-active problem-solving attitude," said Ton Ronde, Philips International Cluster Manager, Forwarding & Distribution. "After careful analysis, we concluded that Danzas AEI Intercontinental delivered the optimal mix of price and service to best support our worldwide goals of enhancing customer satisfaction and building value for the Philips enterprise."
"We are proud to have been chosen global airfreight "Carrier of the Year" by a company with such a deep commitment to quality service," said Renato Chiavi, Head of Danzas AEI Intercontinental Business Unit. "By working closely with Philips, using our tools to identify areas of improvement, we enhance the quality of service to Philips and we become a better company overall."
The Philips-Danzas relationship dates back to 1997 with the former AEI. Two years later, AEI was chosen by Philips to serve all its international routes. Today, Philips uses Danzas/Deutsche Post World Net's portfolio of airfreight, trucking, express and warehousing services to effectively support its global expansion plans.
"Our core business is manufacturing high-value goods that must meet tight and time-definite delivery windows, regardless of destination," said Ronde. "Because so much of our traffic moves by air, it is vital that our partners not only have the infrastructure and the information systems to deliver the goods, but that they meet and exceed our carrier performance guidelines with measurable results."
Logistics. Worldwide. With a strong presence on every continent, the Danzas Group is the world's leading provider of logistics solutions. Its 38,000 employees worldwide generate annual net sales of CHF 11.4 billion (EUR 7.1 billion, USD 7.5 billion). Danzas is based in Basel, Switzerland, and belongs to the Deutsche Post World Net.
