Danzas AEI Announces Joint Venture in Mauritius

PORT LOUIS (Mauritius) (June 12, 2000) -- Danzas AEI today announced that it has launched a joint venture with World Express Co. Limited, Port Louis, Mauritius. The new company has been named Danzas AEI Intercontinental (Mauritius) Ltd.

Under the terms of the venture, World Express Co. Limited, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Cargo Express Company Limited, will control 65% of the joint venture company and Danzas AEI Inc. the remaining 35%.

Daniel Ng Cheong Hin, General Manager of World Express Co. Ltd, said this partnership with one of the world's leaders in integrated logistics will offer tremendous benefits to Mauritius' business community.

The recently enacted US-Africa trade legislation should boost trade between Mauritius and the United States. One of the bill's most important features is a provision that raises the quotas on apparel entering the United States. Apparel manufacturing accounts for approximately one third of Mauritius' gross domestic product.

"This provision should help all African nations that export apparel products. Because Mauritius is already so highly developed in apparel manufacturing, it should benefit the most and it will reap the benefits before any other country in Africa," said Rohrmann.
