AEI Names Steve Morrison Managing Director, United Kingdom
STAINES, UK (April 29, 1999) -- Solidifying its leadership role in the
European integrated logistics market, AEI said today it has named Steve
Morrison to the key post of Managing Director, United Kingdom.
For the past 11 years, Mr. Morrison led AEI's New Zealand operations as
Managing Director. In his new position, he will be responsible for a
700-person staff and 25 offices stretching from Glasgow, Scotland, to the
north, to Southampton at the southern tip of England.
Mr. Morrison, 45, succeeds Chris Buckerfield, who retired earlier this year as
UK Managing Director and vice president, Europe. He will report to Sjoerd van
Loon, AEI's new vice president, Europe.
Brian Broom has been named to succeed Mr. Morrison as Managing Director, New
Zealand. Mr. Broom, who previously held the position at AEI as General
Manager, Roadstar New Zealand, has a well-rounded commercial background both
in New Zealand and in the UK.
Morrison added, "AEI has a great team in New Zealand, and I have no doubt in
their ability to build on the successes we have created there. I am looking
forward to my new opportunity, and I am particularly excited about the role
AEI will play in shaping Europe's dynamic trade and business climate."
A 24-year veteran of the transportation logistics industry, Morrison joined
AEI New Zealand in 1988 after working in the airline cargo industry with
responsibility for Asia-Pacific operations. His tenure in New Zealand was
marked by many accomplishments. Among them:
"AEI's greatest asset is the quality and professionalism of its people," van
Loon said. "Out in the field, those assets are most visible at the Country
Manager level. Steve Morrison has proved himself more than capable, and we
look forward to a successful tenure heading up the important UK market."
Headquartered in Darien, CT, AEI is a world leader in integrated logistics
services, delivering multi-modal transportation, warehousing and distribution,
customs brokerage, consulting, and information management solutions across a
network of 705 locations in 135 countries.
