AEI Laredo Moves To Larger Facility; Quadruples Capacity On U.S.-Mexico Border
DARIEN, CT USA (March 25, 1999) -- AEI said today it has expanded its
operations in Laredo, Texas in response to the explosive growth of
cross-border trading activity between the U.S. and Mexico.
AEI Laredo has moved into a new facility, nearly quadrupling its capacity
in the market. The new facility is equipped to offer a full range of AEI’s
logistics services. These include: domestic, air export, inbound and
outbound ocean forwarding; U.S. Customs brokerage and warehouse and
distribution. The facility will also be staffed by dedicated professionals
skilled in Mexican forwarding and customs brokerage.
In addition, AEI will provide electronic transfers of information and customs
duties to Mexican Customs, thus helping U.S. exporters expedite the clearance
and movement of goods into Mexico from the U.S.
“Our move to larger quarters in Laredo underscores our commitment to meet the
growing needs of U.S. and Mexican businesses in this fast-changing market,”
said Phillip A. Walsh, AEI’s southwest regional manager. “Through our
‘Southern Border’ strategy, which calls for expanding AEI’s network on the
border, and by broadening our service menu in our existing facilities, we are
solidifying our position as a leading provider of integrated logistics to the
U.S.-Mexico trade.”
Last month, AEI announced that its San Diego facility was authorized
by U.S. Customs to perform ‘line-release’ clearances on vehicles entering the
U.S. from Mexico. This authority enables selected AEI customers to have trucks
carrying their goods enter the U.S. without any border-crossing delays.
The new Laredo facility is located at Milo Industrial Park, 410 NAFTA
Boulevard, Laredo, Texas 78045, Tel. (956) 725-0791, Fax (956) 725-0891.
Headquartered in Darien, CT, AEI is a world leader in integrated logistics
services, delivering multi-modal transportation, warehousing and distribution,
customs brokerage and information management solutions across a network of 711 locations in 135 countries.
