DHL GLobal Forwarding History

 Air Express International (AEI) founded in Miami in 1935, was the first freight partner of Pan American World Airways
 Grew with the U.S. Postal mail distribution service, opening offices in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco
 1953 - International expansion London, Brussels, Paris and Frankfurt
 1967 - Opened first Canadian office in Montreal
 1985 - Freighter aircraft sold, company no longer asset based
 Invested in information systems to monitor inventory, real-time, anywhere in the world (LOGIS)
 Broadened and strengthened service offerings, particularly in ocean freight with the acquisition of Votainer in 1993
 Expansion of customs brokerage services with the acquisitions of Radix Group in 1995 and J.V. Carr (Northern Border) in 1996
 1997 - First logistics provider to achieve global accreditation
 1999 - Definitive merger agreement signed with Deutsche Post AG
 2000 - Acquisition complete by Deutsche Post AG
 2001 - Integration with the Intercontinental Business Unit of Danzas Group achieved globally and operating as Danzas AEI Intercontinental
 2003 - Danzas, DHL and Deutsche Post Euro Express will be combined into one network under the DHL brand positioned within four brand areas: Express, Freight, Solutions and Danzas Air & Ocean. Effective April 1, 2003 Danzas AEI Intercontinental will operate under the new brand name DHL Danzas Air & Ocean, with headquarters in Basel Switzerland
 2005 -The DHL brand was further strengthened by Deutsche Post World Net's acquisition of Exel in December 2005. Effective April 1, 2006 DHL Danzas Air & Ocean will operate under the new brand name DHL Global Forwarding with headquarters in Bracknell, UK
