Exceed Your Shipping Performance with
Real-Time Exception Targeting

Automated Exception Management System Immediately Flags Shipment Problems
It is a truism that you cannot manage what you cannot measure. Now you can quickly and accurately determine your shipping performance with the LOGIS XM (Exception Management) reporting system from DHL Global Forwarding. It monitors your shipments to alert you to problems and consolidates historical data so you can analyze and improve your distribution flow.
If unexpected events occur, LOGIS XM detects the benchmark violation so that the DHL Global Forwarding account coordinator can take corrective action to meet your schedule.
By automatically sorting and filtering data on shipments, and flagging the exceptions, LOGIS XM saves your tracking personnel endless hours sorting through screens of information. LOGIS XM also compares your shipment history for specific traffic lanes with benchmarks that you specify, such as average transit time and service provider performance. Customizable reports let you focus on what’s most important to you.
The results: Fewer delays. Lower operating costs. More satisfied customers.
DHL Global Forwarding takes charge of setting up and managing the program. Coordinators in key cities perform expediting, data entry, export forwarding and customs clearance. Data is imported from LOGIS®, our powerful freight management system, through EDI links, to ensure consistency with existing information.

Traffic Lane
All segments involved in delivery of a particular shipment, including origin, routes, carriers, suppliers, and destination. Routings may involve exporting country, transport mode, port of exit, manufacture, port of entry, air, sea and ground carriers, final destination, and importing country. Any change in segment creates a new Traffic Lane.
Logistical Event
Any activity performed during a shipment, such as inland transportation, pier arrival, ocean transit, document processing, customs clearance, etc. Events are measurable by time and cost. The aggregation of Logistical Events creates a shipment status.
Benchmarks
A performance standard for each logistical event pairing measured by time and/or cost. The total number of days benchmarked is the transit time for each traffic lane segment and is used to calculate shipment arrival time.
Lane Segment Profile
Responsible parties for each Traffic Lane segment. Who controls a segment. Who issues the freight bill. Who sets the priority shipping date.
Shipment Status
Compares progress of shipment through the transportation pipeline and compares dates and times for each segment against benchmarks. Alerts display on the
shipment status screen when a benchmark is not met.
Alerts
Alerts are displayed on the shipment status screen when a shipment is in exception status. A daily exception report generates a listing of the exceptions. Customers may request system generated e-mail alerts when a benchmark is not met or when an event occurs.
Customs Reports
Users may configure reports to meet their business needs.
Traffic Lane Analysis
Review of past shipments on file, allowing in-depth analysis of service provider performance, transit time and costs. This valuable tool gives you a broad view of your operations to guide carrier selection, rate negotiations, transportation options and development of future benchmarks. The data also serve as input for inventory strategy.
Shipments Summary/Lane Segment Analysis
Summarizes shipments for a given period and averages service performance (time/cost) for each lane segment. These averages are compared with benchmarks. Differences are highlighted.
